How I Became a Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador

June 10, 2026 Behind the Work 5 min read

Some decisions you make. Others simply find you — because you were in the right place at the right moment, open enough to listen.

On November 23, 2024, I stepped onto the stage of the Swiss Photo Day as a co-host. No rehearsal. No safety net. Just show up, deliver, trust the process. What could have gone wrong became one of the most memorable evenings of my career — and I am genuinely grateful to the entire team behind that event.

Amid the lights and the adrenaline, I met Philipp from Sony. He mentioned casually that I should reach out if I ever wanted to try a Sony system. I was in my eighth season as a wedding photographer — settled, not looking for change. I listened, thanked him, and left it at that.

A few months later, the Swiss Creator Lab took place. For once, I had no wedding that weekend. I went. And there was Philipp again. Same smile. Same energy.

That day, I picked up the Sony Alpha 9 III for the first time. I pressed the shutter. Experienced the global shutter. And something immediately clicked — hard to put into words, but impossible to ignore. Philipp walked me through the system, and what he showed me didn't feel like an upgrade. It felt like a different category entirely.

Testing Until You Know

Over the following weeks, I tested extensively. The Sony Alpha 9 III. The Sony Alpha 1 II. Multiple lenses. Over Christmas — while most people switch off — I was focused on truly understanding a new system. Not on the surface. But the way I approach everything: until I can operate it blind.

At weddings, there are no second chances. No rewinding. The first dance. The look between a father and his daughter. The three seconds before the doors open. These moments don't wait.

Because that is the reality of wedding photography: there are no second chances. No rewinding. No "can we do that again". The first dance. The look between a father and his daughter. The three seconds before the doors open. These moments don't wait — and the equipment can't either.

After that testing phase, the decision was no longer a question.

I signed. As of April 1, 2026, I am officially a Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador — a title held by only six photographers in Switzerland.

What This Means for My Work — and for You

I am often asked why I place so much value on equipment. The answer is simple: because my clients deserve it.

When someone trusts me with their wedding day, they don't get someone who works "good enough". They get someone who shows up with the best available technology — and who knows exactly how to use it. The Sony Alpha 9 III with global shutter means no banding under artificial light. No missed moments due to mechanical delay. Eye-tracking that works even when everything around you is in motion.

Technology is not an end in itself. But it is the quiet difference between an image that hints at a moment — and one that preserves it.

Sony recognised that. Not because I was loud, but because the work spoke for itself. This title is not a confirmation of reach. It is a confirmation of the images — and the intention behind them.

Thank You

This moment does not belong to me alone.

It belongs to every couple who trusted me with their story. Every wedding planner who recommended my work. Every creative partner who helped build something together. And everyone who has watched, written, or simply believed over the years.

Great moments don't happen alone. They happen because people believe in you — often before you know where the path leads.

I am excited about what comes next. The projects. The people. The images that are yet to be made.

And if you are in the middle of planning your wedding day — now you know who you are dealing with. Someone who doesn't do things halfway. Who tests until they know. And who shows up on your day with everything they have.

Nothing less. Never.
